Freedom Square

The Bonteheuwel town centre upgrade focused on the revitalization of Freedom square. Bonteheuwel Freedom Square holds a pivotal place in history, being designated as a Provincial Heritage Site in September 2020. The square is a symbol of resilience, having played a role in political activism during the apartheid era.

Terra + Landscape Architects headed up the design aspects of the project, working hand in hand with esteemed mural artist and architect Lorenzo Nassimbeni, who facilitated the public artwork.
