Minimal architectural and abstract photography has always fascinated me. Shooting walls in this manner has changed my way of looking. Finding these compositions demand a way of seeing the immediate environment without taking any surroundings into context. It is a form of escapism I find it very soothing
These are ongoing series. These works can stand alone or be displayed alongside one another.
GEOMETRY AND THE ALTERING OF SPACIAL DIMENSION
When composing these images I try to balance verticals and diagonals to create abstract works using the same types forms and shapes studied in plane geometry by employing subtly recognizable architectural elements along with light/shadow.
In the the attempt to reduce 3 dimensions to 2, I try to see only lines, shape, colour and texture. Horizontals become diagonals, shadows fulfill the same function as corners and edges, and differing qualities of light playfully interact with the textures of the illuminated surfaces.
The intention is for recognizable elements to appeal to the inquisitive side of the viewer and tempt them to place the 2 dimensional arrangement back in the 3 dimensional world from which they know it came
